Yes, that includes Free Weed’s renditions of “Black Hole Sun” and “In the Meantime.” And it’s the holidays millennials, so why not gift a copy for that certain broke Gen X relative who will be gripping the egg nog mug a little too hard whilst cursing all the flush Boomers.

Tiny Mix Tapes Premieres “Pepper” by Free Weed, the First Single Off ‘199Oz. Buzz Clips’

Tiny Mix Tapes writes: “…it’s no surprise that, a year or so after releasing his debut full-length Introducing, Rikky Gage is back to hit us up with some more of that good, nostalgic, warble-y Free Weed action: this time via an action-packed, six-track record of ANY classic-Simpsons fan and Sega Genesis gamer’s favorite 1990s alt-rock jams.”

Free Weed and Unkle Funkle Team for ‘199Oz. Buzz Clips’ on Bad Diet Records!

Pre-Order 199Oz. Buzz Clips Now!

Release Date: November 25, 2016 (Black Friday)

Bad Diet Records dialed up the modems of Free Weed & Unkle Funkle to create 199Oz. Buzz Clips. On this full-length cover album, L.A.’s Gnar-punks slam the 1990s’ greatest rock anthems, from “Pepper” to “Black Hole Sun,” like a weed grinder onto a desk of pogs…during detention!

Mount up, as we hotbox a white Bronco piloted by Star Fox and Spoon Man and roll out to a simpler era, when juveniles raided Columbia House CDs instead of Reddit posts, when Brendan Fraser’s hair wasn’t a meme, when Batman didn’t shoot dudes, and #Grunge wasn’t data-mined behind the multi-screen.

This latest BD release is Free Weed’s follow-up to 2015’s Introducing, numerous tracks from which are singled out on HBO’s acclaimed new series High Maintenance. Noisey praises Free Weed’s music as “blissed out pop.” WTH, we love Shane Smith now.

Produced by Unkle Funkle and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control), 199Oz. Buzz Clips features covers of: Ween, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Butthole SurfersSpacehog, and Third Eye Blind. Each track is as polished and heavy as Matt Pinfield’s dome. We guarantee it. The deluxe version, pressed on slime green vinyl, is exclusive to indie stores worldwide.

About Free Weed: When not boosting listeners’ happiness and lowering their inhibitions as Free Weed, he is Rikky Gage, ringleader of great bands The Memories and White Fang. Gage/Weed continues to build a following that swerves mainstream, having made the hit “Burger TV” theme for Burger Records. Fans includes Workaholics’ Kyle Newacheck, Chris “Party Boy” Pontius, Run the Jewels art maven Nick Gazin (who drew the mini-comic for Introducing), and baby girl.

Like a #based Krofttian octopus, Gage’s tentacles juggle magic markers, guitars, ‘scripts, and the keys to Gnar Tapes (the dirt-chic cassette label) and GnarBurger (the L.A. retail hangout). A Gnar podcast was launched in 2015. Remarkably, according to a rock journalist, villagers in the immediate area swear they “never even saw the long-haired gringo get outta bed.”

With their band White Fang, Sir Weed and Count Funkle just wrapped a nationwide tour, runnin’ with No Parents and The Birth Defects. And Funkle is now touring Europe solo. In the spirit of 199Oz., bring ‘em gin-and-juice or Crystal Pepsi. (No mids.)

Bad Diet Records Welcomes Greg Ashley to Our Roster!

Never in a million shots of J&B did the Bad Diet team expect to be in business with the Greg Ashley. This guy, whether solo, with his band The Gris Gris, or with King Khan, is one of our all-time fav rockers. If we had a little brother or sister we’d sacrifice them for the honor. And yet, ye gods simply rubbed our shoulders, gave us a handie and said: Let it be.

This Halloween, Bad Diet releases Living Underground, a befitting title for a 7-inch. It contains two archival cuts, one from The Gris Gris and another by Ashley’s Oakland supergroup Sir Lord Von Raven.

You can order it now from our web shrine, or find it at rock retailers worldwide.  Thank you for supporting our operation.

“Greg Ashley is a true psychedelic visionary, maybe the greatest of his generation”- Adam Shore, VICE Records
